Welcome, Bienvenue, Wilkommen, etc.

I have this theory that 1 out of every 7 or so college students graduates with an intensified love of food. Perhaps it has to do with the lack of tasty dining options in dorms, or the necessity of learning to cook that comes with apartment living. Either way, we seem to be seeing an emergence of the Foodie Generation. Food snobs abundant. Whether its about food preparation, food source, or food options, more and more of the 20-something age group is getting serious about what they are putting in their bodies.

That is to say, my sister and I aren't really any different. Growing up our mother cooked everything from scratch (I'm talking everything from mayonnaise and yogurt to sukiyaki and matzo ball soup), and kept our food as organic and health conscious as possible. Now that both of us are out of undergraduate school and one has moved into her own apartment, we both fall into that batch of 20-something foodies with a greater appreciation of the old adage "You are what you eat."

So that brings us here. Both of us love to cook, love delicious ingredients, and love sharing our discoveries, experiments, and victories of the food variety. This begs the question,  who's the better cook? I say me, she says otherwise. We'll see.

Each week we'll be putting up posts on our favorite food stuffs. That can be anything from ingredients, restaurants and food stores, to cooking websites, books, and TV shows. Of course once each week we'll have a quasi Iron Chef face-off and you'll have to determine who's the Victuals Victor, reigning Culinary Queen, Delicatessen Dictator, if you will.  Mind you, neither of us are trained culinary experts in any sense, so we'll probably have a few Pompeii styled disasters along the way.

However this all turns out, I invite you all to join us, eat to your hearts desire, and don't be afraid to speak up! Tell us what you want to see! We'll do our best to keep you entertained.

Laters, all. I'm off to make and then eat lunch.
